On my lunch break, I went for a walk down the South Bank with colleagues. We were looking for a store that repaired jewellery because my colleague had a broken necklace.

We were talking about dogs when we spotted a labradoodle (mixture of a labrador with a poodle) by the Oxo Tower. Just as we were approaching the dog, to chat with the owner, the man stood up from the grass, holding scooped shit. It was Graham Norton.

He looked at us; we looked at him. We then looked away, playing it cool. It crossed my mind that it was the kind of photographic moment a gossip magazine would pay for. He looked uncomfortable.

On the walk back, we counted the first Gormley statues placed on the top of buildings facing the Thames. Some of the statues have already triggered suicide calls to the police; some remind me of snipers. They are creepy as hell.

I always think that no matter how much owners must love their dogs, that moment must be horrible. At least with cats, they bury it or it's dealt with in the privacy of the home. I can imagine the poor man's discomfort, trying to keep out of Heat magazine whilst taking the dog for a walk. : /

I'd really like to see Gormley's statues, particularly at Crosby beach.
Are they really eerie? : D
There are 'gatehouse keepers' on the bar of York as you enter the city. They always give me a little shiver when I pass under them.

How's your brother doing? Good, I hope.

Seen from a distance, the statues are very eerie. From my desk, I can see one that has been placed on the building right by Waterloo bridge, on the north side. It stands there like a sentinel, watching over us. Up close, they are dark brown, with a pigeon-like chest. There's one already on the IBM building, across from us, and two will be going up on our building in the coming weeks (they are going up in phases.)

Ollie do you remember the name of the German artist that builds the house exhibitions that Kevin attended some months ago?

what does graham norton do that would make him worthy of such a photo in a gossip rag?

Graham is the British equivalent of Rosie O'Donnel, in the sense that they are openly queer, chat show hosts, and came from a cultish background (in his case, the TV show "Father Ted") to become big TV stars. What would you think if you saw Rosie scooping dog shit in Central Park? :-P

Thank you, Rosie! is what I'd think. I abhor it when people leave their dog's shit on the ground. I'd think it especially keen if celebrities....

hang on. Rosie O'Donnell is the Queen of Nice. Of course she'd scoop her dog's shit up. But maybe I would be like, "Whoa!" if I saw Sarah Jessica Parker doing it. She strikes me as prissy.

I'm not surprised Graham was scooping; he seems to be a nice enough and decent fellow. It just sucks for him that in our crazy celebrity times, a paparazzi would love to snap him doing so.

Yeah, it does. You sure do site a lot of celebrities!

I'm one of those people who memorizes faces, and who walks around paying attention to what other people are up to. I'm terrible with names though.

I walk by people I know all the time, rarely truly see the people around me. I think it's cos when I am going somewhere that's considered a goal and I plow through stuff until the goal is completed. Nearly walked by my roommate on the subway tonight cos I didn't see her - I was trying to get to one particular end of the car.

Sounds very typical Leo behaviour. ;-)

(I speak from the experience of living with one...)
