Haha! I thought, "Ooh, I finally saw Sex, Lies & Videotape this year too...oh, we watched it together!"

Date: 2008-01-01 01:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
Yeah, we watched quite a few ones together! :-)

And our reading list also consisted of some of the same books.

From: [identity profile] desayuno-ingles.livejournal.com
Ah, this is true, but I forgot to pay attention to those. Did you send me The Night Watch? No, I found it in Mexico. I need to send it to someone, I've gone through my books again and pulled out a small stack to get rid of. Everything except what I want to put in the living room now fits on a small shelf in my room. le sigh.

Yup, I gave you The Night Watch at the farm. You took it with you to Mexico. :-)

Oh haha! No wonder! I felt kind of bad thinking I'd stolen it from the library at the school.

Happy New Year! Did you see my own year-end list? Crazy, huh? I'm gonna start doing your list thing so it's everything like that. Except I don't know if I can be quite as OCD as you are.

Happy New Year!

That's cool you are keeping a list too; you'll learn a lot about how much TV you watch! It's not that hard to keep if you use LJ every day - it just becomes a matter of updating the list every time you log on. :-)

Well, we don't have cable - yet. We'll probably get it soon, though. It's expensive! But I want to have internet, too, b/c I don't trust using my passwords, etc. through an unsecured connection and we're pirating right now.

how did you keep track of all of that well enough to compose such a list? this is incredible. glad i could contribute just a little to your cultural intake!

I kept it throughtout the year, updating the list almost every day. This is the second year in a row you have contributed to my cultural intake, and for that I'm very thankful!

James Herbert's The Fog [1/3 read]

It's shit! What's even shitter is that he wrote the exact same book again a few years later with The Dark, which replaces Fog with a mysterious 'darkness' but is otherwise identical. He's a shameless hack and I hate his writing.

Patrick Wolf - The Magic Position

I am finding myself actually quite liking Patrick Wolf's music though.

Date: 2008-01-01 01:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
I was completely seduced by Patrick Wolf. He's got lineage (he used to play with Leigh Bowery as a teenager) and I think he's going to go far.

Here's my review of The Fog. It was beyond shite.

Date: 2008-01-01 10:52 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] blu-bear.livejournal.com
How on earth do you remember all that? I have trouble enough remembering the last film I rented let alone all from this year!

Date: 2008-01-02 06:00 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
I keep track of everything during the year (which isn't hard since I check LJ almost every day) then make the list public on the 31st December. :-)

Date: 2008-01-02 10:45 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] blu-bear.livejournal.com
That sounds like an idea you know. I might try and do that throughout the year.

Date: 2008-01-02 02:06 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
I suppose it's a good way to learn how much you've read, watched, etc. For me, it has made me aware of how much TV I watch, and how I need to cut back.

Date: 2008-01-02 02:56 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] belacane.livejournal.com
I have to ask, do you keep a running list? or do you recall all of this as you're making this entry?

pretty cool list!

Date: 2008-01-02 08:59 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
If I could recall a list such as this, I'd offer my own brain to science! :-D

No, I keep the list updated almost on a daily basis then make it public at the end of the year.

DEBUSSYOMG

I quite envy your book and film list. I mean, I love reading, and I love watching movies - but it sometimes takes me two weeks to get through a film (that I like) and months to get through a book. I procrastinate even with things I love. (Haha, I've been on the last thirty pages of one of my books for about two months now. But I've read a few others in the process!)

And I just read your Wild Tigers I have known review. Hahaha, I've had that on my DVR for awhile, but I guess now I won't watch it.

Date: 2008-01-02 09:03 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
Sometimes I wish I could digest things a little slower - take my time with books and films. I feel as if I compulsively goble everything in my path, and move on to the next thing with bits still undigested.
